Kaiser Health News has a good piece about treatment-resistant depression in the elderly. Nearly 16 million adults have major depression, and up to a third do not respond to treatment. The disease afflicts people of all ages, but experts say that as many as half of older adults don’t get better with standard treatment.

They are defining TRD as failure of 2 antidepressants, we usually think of 3 or 4. Most of our patients have failed at least 6 antidepressants.
